FIREFIGHTER 1 NFPA 1001

This firefighter training course is designed to provide the student with the theoretical and practical training to function as an integral member of a firefighting team.

Firefighter Level 1 imbues learners with the requisite skills and knowledge to identify, contain, extinguish and prevent different types of fires by operating basic firefighting equipment.

Upon successful completion of this training course, the qualifying learner will be able to identify different types of fires, explain and practice fire prevention, operate basic firefighting equipment and perform basic firefighting procedures. It is highly recommended that learners are found competent in this unit standard before progressing to Firefighter Level 2.

FIREFIGHTER 2 NFPA 1001

Firefighter 2 is the second level in the firefighter program.  It is designed to provide the theory and skills necessary to perform the functions of a firefighter. Firefighter 1 NFPA 1001 is a pre-requisite for this course.

The aim of this course is to equip you with the knowledge and skills and insight to be able to identify a hazardous material incident. Further, it will teach you how to deal with public safety concerns surrounding a hazardous material scene.

HAZMAT OPERATIONS NFPA 472

The aim of this course is to equip you with the knowledge and skills and insight to be able to deal effectively with any hazardous material spill.

Students will meet all of the requirements for Awareness Level, plus initiate defensive actions to protect the public, the environment, and property from the effects of the hazardous material(s) involved in the incident.

Students may be trained to perform additional functions at a hazardous material incident depending on their assigned missions or functions at such incidents.

FIRE OFFICER NFPA 1021

Fire Officer identifies the performance requirements necessary to perform the duties of a first line supervisor. This course introduces the student to the basic concepts of management and supervision by concentration on such topics as: organizational structure, communication skills, human resource management, public relations, planning, emergency service delivery, and safety. This course is designed to assist the participants in making the transition from firefighter to company officer. This course is designed to train participants to teach a class from a prepared lesson plan. This course introduces the student to the concept of utilizing training aids to enhance his/her presentation, how to properly select these training aids, and how to use the training aid selected.
